Rubber products have strict requirements for fillers. Generally speaking, the finer the reinforcing filler particles, the larger the specific surface area and the greater the contact area with rubber, resulting in better reinforcement effects. The finer the non-reinforcing filler particles, the better the mixing effect after being added to rubber.

In terms of particle shape and crystal form, spherical filler particles are preferable. Flake or needle-shaped fillers tend to align directionally during the stretching of vulcanized rubber, leading to increased permanent deformation and reduced tear resistance. Among reinforcing fillers, carbon black and silica are amorphous, while isotropic crystalline fillers like calcium carbonate are not suitable as reinforcing fillers in rubber products that require good wear and tear resistance. For example, calcium carbonate, which has very low reinforcement efficiency, can have its surface tension reduced and wettability increased by adding fatty acids, thereby improving its reinforcement effect. A vertical grinder can improve the surface properties of fillers by adjusting grinding parameters, enhancing their reinforcement efficiency in rubber. When selecting fillers, it is important to consider the physical and mechanical properties of the rubber products, processing technology, and cost requirements. For red reclaimed rubber inner tubes, inexpensive lightweight calcium carbonate can be chosen as a filler, which not only improves the performance of reclaimed rubber products but also reduces production costs. For white, light-colored, and colored rubber products, transparent silica and basic magnesium carbonate can be selected as fillers to meet their color and transparency requirements.
