Vertical ultrafine grinder, quartz sand fine grinding mill


Quartz is highly hard and exhibits strong abrasiveness; when processed with a grinding mill for fine grinding, it places significantly higher demands on the grinding media and wear‑resistant components than ordinary soft minerals. In a vertical wet grinder used to process quartz sand, water, quartz particles, and ceramic media can be introduced into the grinding chamber simultaneously. Continuous agitation generates high‑frequency collisions and shear forces, progressively reducing particle sizes from the millimeter scale down to several hundred microns.

When finely grinding quartz sand, two common misconceptions often arise: first, the belief that larger grinding media are easier to use; second, the assumption that higher rotational speeds invariably lead to greater throughput. In reality, larger balls have fewer contact points, while smaller balls offer limited impact energy, so an appropriate size distribution must be selected based on feed particle size and the desired product fineness. Rotational speed, meanwhile, is constrained by motor power, wear rates, and the dynamic behavior of the grinding media. When using a cell mill for wet grinding of quartz, ceramic‑media specifications and operating peripheral speeds can be tailored to meet specific product requirements. Ultimately, equipment performance should be evaluated in terms of continuous production rate, final particle‑size distribution, specific electrical energy consumption per ton of product, and the service life of wear‑resistant components.
